Douglas Lake Equipment/Avenue Machinery Corp. (DLEAMC) is a distinguished dealership specializing in farm and construction equipment, representing reputable brands such as Kubota, Fendt, Massey Ferguson, New Holland, and Kobelco products.
This position will be responsible for managing the company’s inventory levels, with a primary focus on used and aged inventory. This role is essential for maintaining the organization’s financial health by achieving targeted inventory turns, interest carrying costs, and cash exposure. The Used Equipment Manager will monitor used inventory levels, make informed purchase decisions, oversee reconditioning standards, and develop wholesale and retail strategies for used equipment. Attention to changing market conditions is critical to staying informed on equipment needs, and ensuring optimal inventory management and profitability. Key performance indicators (KPIs) will be detailed in an Appendix. This position reports directly to the General Manager – Wholegoods Sales and Marketing.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Used Strategies and Execution
- Develop and implement strategies in collaboration with the GM – Sales and Marketing to improve metrics on aged equipment, including write-downs and equipment turns.
- Optimize the used evaluation process, as agreed upon with the GM of Sales and Marketing, to establish reconditioning standards based on inventory age and market conditions, impacting profitability and inventory management.
- Provide final approval on trades over $100,000 and larger Ag and construction equipment (e.g., tractors > 200 hp, combines, seeders, CTLs, excavators > 8 tons). Input on smaller trades will be provided as needed.
- Inventory Management and Reporting
- Collaborate with Sales Managers and Inventory Controllers to optimize used whole goods inventory levels, aligning with financial objectives, including minimizing interest costs and cash exposure while maximizing inventory turns.
- Collaborate with the GM – Sales and Marketing to set lease residual value tables and manage a select group of short lines.
- Provide comprehensive inventory reports to stakeholders, focusing on cash exposure, balance
- sheet health, interest expenses, and inventory turnover rates.
- Wholesale Business Growth
- Cultivate relationships and execute strategies to grow the wholesale business, with regular interactions with wholesale customers, including monthly calls and intermittent regional visits.
- Market Analysis and Re-marketing
- Gather and share market information and competitive analysis with sales teams to inform decisions on trade investments and used equipment inventory levels.
- Manage the used equipment re-marketing strategy, ensuring the sales management team provides accurate information on used trades.
- General Responsibilities
- Promote the mission and values of the organization internally and externally, ensuring effective teamwork and communication across departments.
- Perform other duties as required within the scope of the role and overall Douglas Lake Equipment objectives.
Sales Department Interface:

Job Requirements:
- 3 years of direct experience in a similar capacity or proven acumen.
- 5 years of minimum working experience in an operational capacity related to the role.
- Excellent organizational, strategic planning, and implementation skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to build relationships with internal departments, key business partners, and customers.
- Capability to create realistic schedules and meet deadlines under stress.
- Confidence in decision-making and providing direction.
- Understanding of financial reports.
- Proficiency in technology and computer literacy (Office products, Adobe, email etiquette).
Work Conditions:

Pay: Base Salary $110-$120k per year, with bonus potential of $40k to $50k per year.
